Welcome to Bruckless House

Bruckless House, the home of Joan & Clive Evans, is an attractive 18th century Classical house. Listed as a protected building in Ireland, it has a traditional cobbled farmyard and is set in 18 acres of parkland. Bruckless House borders Bruckless Harbour, with spacious informal award-winning gardens of the Robinsonian kind, which features in the Donegal Garden Trail and in guides to Irish gardens.   There is mature woodland around the House and great interest in their development and protection. Connemara Ponies are bred here and can be seen in the parkland and grazing down to the shore-line.   There is a traditional cobbled yard at the rear of the House where hens lay their eggs, and ducks patrol the gardens producing excellent duck eggs (that make wonderful cakes and scrambled egg).   Here, too, in the old stable, the Welsh Corgi dogs spend the night only to run about during the day greeting all and sundry.   The cats patrol the barns and buildings for the inevitable small unwelcome visitors from the woods.   There is even a watch kept on the rainfall here - Bruckless House is an official rainfall station that submits daily reports to the Irish Metrological Office.   Thus a detailed account of our rain is available with an analysis of data accumulated since 1985.

From here guests can explore the many interesting and significant local archaeological sites or simply enjoy some of the most beautiful and unspoilt Atlantic Coastline. St John's Point is a first class site for diving and under-water exploration.   Sea and river fishing can be arranged: there are two golf courses within easy reach. Horseback riding may also be arranged nearby. Excellent restaurants in the vicinity.

Some French, German and Chinese spoken; and Italian sometimes. Open 1st May - 30th September.

The House is an Irish Home approved by the Irish Tourist Board and is listed in a wide range of visitor guides including Sawday's Special Places to Stay in Ireland, Fodor, Frommer, Cadogan Guide, Karen Brown, Georgina Campbell's Jameson Guide , le Guide du Routard, and Interconnections Reisenfieber Irland.
