Connemara Ponies have been bred in County Donegal for very many years, from Glencolmcille in the South-West to Carndonagh in the far North of Inishowen. The pony was as useful here to the marginal and bog farmer as it was to the small farming communities in its native Connemara in County Galway, where the centre of breeding interest still resides.
The Connemara pony is also a very successful performance pony, typically hardy with a kindly streak and friendly dispositions. A Connemara makes an excellent riding and driving pony for both adults and children. The photograph shows Bruckless Gaffalla performing at the age of 22 years.
